situation but your thoughts about it. Rather than being your thoughts and
emotions, be the awareness behind them.

Don't seek happiness. If
you seek it, you won't find it, because seeking it is the antithesis of
happiness. Happiness is ever elusive, but freedom from unhappiness is
attainable now, by facing what is rather than making up stories about it.
Unhappiness covers up your natural state of wellbeing and inner peace, the
source of true happiness.

- Eckhart Tolle

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-07-28T19:49:50Z</dcterms:modified>

No Limits

"If you limit yourself to what seems possible or reasonable you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise."

- Robert Fritz

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-18T13:36:55Z</dcterms:modified>

Stephen Covey Quote

"What we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do." - Stephen Covey

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-23T22:35:46Z</dcterms:modified>

Making a difference...

Telling children repeatedly how wonderful they are doesn't make them feel wonderful about themselves.
Showing them how to act in ways that help the world around them does make them feel wonderful about themselves.

When you feel bad about yourself, there's nothing better to get yourself out of that mood than by helping others. You are dependent on their feelings in order for you to be happy with who you are. The problem with this is, what if you're not happy being the you others want you to be?
The trick is to feel good about yourself because you meet your own standards, principles and definition of who you are/ want to be.
The trick is to feel good about yourself independently of what others think.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-02T22:32:42Z</dcterms:modified>

Attraction: Choosing someone to complete you

Some believe that we are attracted to someone because they have genes that are complementary to ours.
For example: If you have genes for weak lungs, you may be attracted to someone who has genes for strong lungs.
What's the reasoning behind this theory? In an evolutionary sense, finding someone to complete you genetically increases the chances of having stronger offspring with a greater chance of survival.

This theory states that we all have genetic matches and that we pick up how genetically compatible someone is to us through a type of energetic wave.

On the other hand, if you attract someone to fill your emotional (rather than genetic) gaps, when you learn to become more self-sufficient you may feel you no longer need them...

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-15T12:12:56Z</dcterms:modified>

Behaviour is not necessarily a true projection of who you are

"We are what we repeatedly do." - Aristotle
Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits.
"Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,"

BUT...
Your behaviour is not necessarily you. fun, exciting and successful (otherwise the movie will be a flop!)

In the movie of your life, only you can decide what job you take.
You can even be the director AND the star of the show…

"One day, I decided I was tired of watching movies and seeing others go off on adventures, and decided to start living the adventure of my own life myself!" - James Blade

Things to consider:
- Set: Where is your movie set? Which country? City/ countryside/ seaside etc?
- Wardrobe
- Scenes: What kind of scenes are important to include?
- Co-actors: Who are your co-stars?
In order to do this, we must question some of the rules society dictates, and some of the rules we've been living by, and we need to assess whether these "rules" are really right for us. If yes, great keep at it; If no, then you can go about seeking out new ways of living your life that suit you. You can find your path, and even if in your search you mess up a little along the way, the important thing is that you are progressing towards being true to yourself and no matter what embarassments happen along the way, you'll still be alive and kicking.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-13T20:14:00Z</dcterms:modified>

The Door

Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-13T20:07:32Z</dcterms:modified>

Compete against yourself

I never compete against the competition. refreshment of one's body or mind. It involves being active in a
refreshing and diverting manner. Some individuals view recreation as
largely non-productive, even trivial.

Laughter existed in other animals eons before we humans came along. In almost every species studied, a graph of playfulness looked like an
inverted U, increasing during the juvenile period and then falling off
around puberty, after which time most animals don’t play much anymore. But interestingly, the amount the brain grows between birth and maturity reflects the amount of play in which each species engages.

Why did we evolve to play?
Theories include:
- To help juveniles develop the skills they will need to hunt, mate and socialise as adults. To provide practice for either sex or aggression
- To allows young animals to get in shape for adult life by improving their respiratory endurance.
- Play often involves complex assessments of playmates, ideas of reciprocity and the use of specialised signals and rules. Play creates a brain that has greater behavioural flexibility and improved potential for learning later in life.

‘‘Look at life without play, and it’s not much of a life. If you think of all the things we do that are playrelated
and erase those, it’s pretty hard to keep going. Without play, there’s a sense of dullness, lassitude and pessimism, which
doesn’t work well in the world we live in.’’ - Stuart Brown president of the National Institute for Play

Play is behavior that many scientists believe is hard-wired; a central part of neurological growth and development, and one that provides an important way to build complex, skilled, responsive, socially adept and cognitively flexible brains.

"The opposite of play is not work, it's depression."
Research has shown that recreation contributes to life satisfaction, quality of life, health and wellness, and that the use of recreation as a diversion may have clinical applications to individuals with chronic pain and other health impairments. Recreation is essential to the longevity of human beings, especially because it helps counteract stress.

So in conclusion: play, have fun, enjoy yourself! - whether it be in the form of pleasures of nonsense and being funny, to
the excitements of real action and discovery, the thrills of mastery
and victory, the exaltations of artistic performances, the consummatory

Elevating one or two is not enough. All three need to be improved to reach fulfillment and an enlightened life.

Sharma's 10-step method of Radiant Living:

Solitude: Give yourself a period of solitude and peace each day to tune in to yourself and to the limitless intelligence of the Universe
Exercise: Exercise your body using effective breathing techniques: A trained body = a trained mind.
Nourish: The right foods enhance the mind, body and mood
Acquire Knowledge: Read regularly to feed the garden of the mind. Books can help you see what is already within you and that's what enlightenment is all about.
Self-Reflection: Connect with yourself. Contemplate what you learn each day and think if you are happy with how you spend your time each day.
Sleep: High quality of sleep is important and can be achieved by letting the body unwind before going to sleep by not eating just before going to bed, and doing something relaxing before sleep.
Music: Listening to music gives a spiritual boost.
The spoken word: The spoken word has great power so positive affirmations and using positive language can help change your self-image and feelings.
Actions: Too often do you wish you acted on a thought and regret not carrying it
out. (eg I should have given up my seat for that elderly lady on the
tube...). Allign your actions with your thoughts and principles to act in a way congruent with your true character. Acting on thoughts and principles builds habits, character and eventually your destiny.

Simplicity: Live a life of simplicity. Stop wasting time and focus on the meaningful priorities of life.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-21T12:01:39Z</dcterms:modified>

Epictetus Quote - Freedom

"No man is free who is not a master of himself".

By mastering your mind and self, only then can you reach your best potential without anything holding you back. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.
He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full..
They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life."
The golf balls are the important things - God, family, children, health, friends, and Favorite passions --things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.
Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal unit.
"Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter.
Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked,"
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."
